Unrestrained is the young adult ministry of Newport City Church and is led by Pastors Zach and Sarah Prewitt. It exists to offer a community that is conducive for young adults to develop as Jesus followers who are resiliently faithful and Spirit-led. The young adults gather together the last Friday of every other month (February-August) for food, games, and a time of worship/devotion. They host an annual spring revival and fall retreat. Zach and Sarah Prewitt launched Unrestrained Young Adults in January 2020 as the young adult ministry of Newport City Church. Sarah grew up attending Newport City, while Zach is a native of Somerset, Kentucky and moved to Northern Kentucky in 2017. He is an Ordained Minister in the Church of God and has been serving in ministry since he was 16 years old.
Together, they began a young adult small group in 2019 and quickly saw there was a greater need for young adult ministry, which prompted the launch of Unrestrained. At the time, young adult ministry was still very uncommon with little to no resources or models to look to outside of much larger churches. Still, they pressed on to create their own model of ministry even in the midst of a worldwide pandemic. Today, Unrestrained continues to be a place for young adults both within and outside of Newport City Church to join in community and have a life-changing encounter with the Holy Spirit. |
