Newport City Church of God is a faith community working together to make it in Newport as it is in Heaven. We love our city and strive to make Newport a better place to live and work - and we know the best way to do that is by ushering in the Presence of God!
WHAT TO EXPECT
Planning on visiting us for the first time? That's great! We have first time visitors with us every Sunday, so don't worry - you won't be the only one! We know that walking into a church for the first time can be a bit overwhelming. That's why we hope to make it as seamless and surprise-free as possible. Once entering the front doors of our facility, you will be greeted by a member of our Hospitality team. These individuals will help welcome you and make the rest of your visit as easy as possible. They will have a free gift for you, and will help guide you to which area of the church you need to be in; whether it be a Small Group classroom, Kidz Church, Nursery, or the Main Sanctuary to join in for Worship!
PARKING
We invite you to park in one of the "Guest" parking spaces designated in the main parking lot, across the road from our Main Sanctuary and Gymnasium.
WHAT TO WEAR
No worries, we don't have a dress code that we expect you to abide by! Whether you prefer skinny jeans and a t-shirt, a three-piece suit, or anywhere in-between, you'll fit in just fine! Although we welcome you to come however best fits you, we do respectfully ask that you dress modestly.
SERVICE
We are a house where the Presence of God is invited and expected to move!
A five-minute countdown will begin playing on the screens at the service start time to allow everyone to find their seats, and service will officially proceed once the five-minute countdown is over. You may stay seated when the countdown is over, as the sanctuary lights will be dimmed and our weekly announcement video will begin playing on the screens.
Following that, Pastor Zach will greet everyone and open up with Scripture and prayer as we begin to corporately invite the Holy Spirit to move freely in our service.
Once Pastor Zach has finished the opening prayer, Newport City Worship will then lead us into a place and posture of praise and worship through three to four songs, typically.
Next, our Senior Pastor, Pastor Rusty Woolum, will then come to preach a message that He has labored in prayer over. Once Pastor has finished preaching, he will give an altar call to allow a time of prayer and for anyone who wishes to give their life to Christ!
Again, while this is our typical order of service, we pray fervently that God moves in a mighty and fresh way during our gatherings. Because of this, our order of service is often times altered in some form. Our services typically last around 90-120 minutes.
